NOUN Starts Training Students for Newspaper and Magazine
The Mass Communication Department at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has initiated the production of a student training newspaper and magazine, namely NOUNSCOPE and NOUNDIGEST, respectively.
Dr. Lateef Adelakun, the Head of the department, emphasized that the project aims to provide students with practical experience to complement their theoretical knowledge.

The practical involvement in these publications is mandatory for students enrolled in MAC312 – Newspaper Production and MAC421: Advanced Newspaper/Magazine Production.
Notably, both courses are now “non-examinable,” and students will be evaluated based on their practical participation, Dr. Adelakun explained.
Furthermore, the Head of the department encourages all students to actively engage in the process, including gathering materials and sourcing advertisements for the publications.
Students are required to submit a well-written and punctuated full-page write-up as part of their participation.
