The Director, Directorate of Physical Development Works and Services (DPDWS), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Architect Abubakar Y. Alfa, has said that the relocation of the institution to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja has helped in confronting some infrastructural challenges bedeviling the university.

 

 

Abubakar said this in an interview with the NOUN News recently, where he also narrated the achievements and breakthroughs the university has recorded ever since its relocation.

Alfa said, “It was only three blocks of building that were in Abuja headquarters as at the time of relocation; now we have about ten buildings and many buildings going on in study centers across the country.”

He listed the buildings that are ongoing at the headquarters and study centers are as Faculty Building, Virtual Facilitation Centre, Postgraduate School, bridge, new ultra-modern study centre at Dawakin Kudu in Kano state, Directorate of Learning Contents and Management System (LCMS), among others.

According to the Director;

“This campus is one of the most beautiful campus in the country. We have good road and good networks, most importantly, faculty building (Abdalla Uba Adamu building), Vincent Ado Tenebe building and Afolabi Ojo building, among others.”

 

Emphasizing on the level of development, Alfa explained that the university will be well developed in five years, as students will easily access the internet facilities.

“They don’t need to come to the headquarters before solving their problems.”

 

He implored all staff to handle the university properties with caution, adding that fund is the major challenge confronting the directorate.
